About us
SARAID works in two operational spheres:
The International Rescue Team (IRT) train and prepare for all international deployments as well as being available if called upon for UK response. We specialise in Urban Search and Rescue one of the most hazardous disciplines within Search and Rescue. We provide emergency disaster and humanitarian response in the immediate aftermath of natural disasters. Our team of dedicated, highly-trained volunteers are on standby 24/7, every single day of the year. IRT also work with countries to provide advice and training on how to cope in the initial 24 hours of the disaster. SARAID is registered with the UN International Search and Rescue Advisory Group and members of the European Association of Civil Protection Volunteer Teams.
The Community Resilience Team (CRT) works within the UK, currently in Somerset, Avon and South Gloucestershire counties including Bristol and Bath areas and is community focused. The CRT provides effective lowland search and rescue personnel as well as fully trained in flood barrier deployment, a Flood Response Team to support the emergency services, local authorities and communities as an additional trained resource with regional natural disasters or emergencies.
Our group of volunteers are drawn from all sections of the community both locally and nationally. Our members have a wide range of backgrounds and skillsets, but each shares a common purpose – to use their training to assist if called upon in times of community need both home and abroad.
